Wonder about that call? Wonder about that Law (no rules in soccer, all laws!)? What do the hand and flags signals mean, and what the heck is "offside?" Tired of jogging for your health with no particular destination, or just want to contribute to local soccer "calling ’em straight? Now’s the time
Castro Valley Soccer Club is offering 2 different classes this summer:
A special compressed Grade 8 referee class, beginning on Friday July 25th. The grade 8 license is the basic "full" license for refereeing. Take the class and pass the test, and become a USSF (United States Soccer Federation) certified soccer referee. Both youth and adults --especially adults-- are invited to apply to the class and learn the art and science of refereeing, and earn money doing it. Students must be at least 12 years old by August 1, 2014. Maximum age is "can you run?" The classes are 18 hours total and candidates are required to attend ALL sessions. The last class is test night, and if successful, you’ll head home with a referee badge in hand. And no better way than to spend a Saturday with the soccer youth of Castro Valley!
Special weekend compression classes for grade 8 referee:
A Grade 9 referee class, beginning on Friday August 8th. The grade 9 license allows you to referee Recreational games only, not Competitive.
8/8 Fri 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm - Classroom Session 1
8/9 Sat 8:30 am - 3:00 pm - Classroom Session 2 and 2-1/2 hour Field Session
Classroom and Certification sessions are at CVSC office located at 3585 Castro Valley Boulevard, Castro Valley, CA 94546 [map]

The clinic will be filled by the order of received checks in the mail, using the postmark date, with preference given to CVSC members and member families. Last year (and years before) the class filled early, so don’t put it off. If your check is received after we have filled the class, we will put you on a waiting list. Checks will not be cashed unless applicants are successfully enrolled. There is a $45 fee to the CNRA/USSF upon passing the certification exam for the annual licensing.
If you have any questions, please email the CVSC Referee Program Director, Ken Couche, at referees@castrovalleysoccer.com
