In order to continue to improve our Grasshopper Program, it is important that we receive feedback regarding our program and evaluation of our coaches. Please take the time to complete both the coach evaluation and the Grasshopper program survey. You may return your completed forms to the marked box at one of our last two Grasshopper Saturday Sessions, OR mail/drop-off to the CVSC office.

Calling All Kindergarten & Pre-School U5 & U6 Soccer Players

Come join in the FUN sessions that attracted over 230 4 - 6 year old boys and girls during 2008.

The CVSC Grasshoppers Program is an age and gender specific, non-competitive introduction to soccer that will build the foundation for your child’s future soccer enjoyment and development. Come along and join in the FUN packed sessions where you and your child will learn correct soccer technique through fun games in a safe and friendly environment. For 60 minutes every Saturday during the Fall soccer season, you and your child can participate in organized activities designed to maximize a child’s enjoyment and learning experience in soccer.

Who can join the Grasshoppers Program and how do I register my child?

Boys and girls who are born on or between August 1st, 2003 and July 31st, 2004 are eligible to join the U6 Grasshopper Program.   Boys and girls who are born on or between August 1st, 2004 and July 31st, 2005 are eligible to join the U5 Grasshopper Program.   You can register your child online at this website.  Check the website for specific dates and times.


What does it cost to join the Grasshoppers Program?

Player registration with the CVSC and the Grasshopper Program is $170. Your registration fee includes a custom Grasshopper adidas t-shirt, adidas shorts and socks as well as an adidas size 3 Grasshoppers’ soccer ball for all new and returning players. In addition, all Grasshoppers will receive a trophy and pin at the end of the season.

Additional Grasshopper Program Benefits

In addition to the 10 Grasshopper training sessions, all Grasshopper players will be able to attend the ’FREE’ 24-7 UK Soccer Academy recreational drop in sessions held Saturday’s during the summer. In addition, once the season starts, your coach may hold an extra training session during the week, although attendance at these will be optional. When and where does the Grasshoppers Program take place?

 

Grasshopper sessions start on Saturday, August 29th and run for 10 weeks. There will be no sessions on September 5th. In the event of a rain out, additional sessions may be added at the end of the 10 weeks. The Grasshopper sessions will take place at a CVUSD site to be determined. Specific times will be published after player registration is complete.


What happens at a typical Saturday Grasshoppers Program Session?

Age and gender specific Grasshopper teams of about 8 players will be pre-assigned specific one-hour time slots. For the first 20 minutes of the session, 24-7 UK Soccer Academy staff will lead the Grasshopper coaches and players in fun drills designed to improve the players’ ability with the ball and introduce the basic concepts of the game. The last 40 minutes will consist of a small-sided game between pre-formed Grasshopper teams where players and coaches will get a chance to put their new skills into play. What happens if it Rains on a Grasshopper Training Day?

CVSC has a rainout hotline number that will be updated by 7am on the day in question. The Rainout Hotline Number is 510-537-5247.

Can I play with a Buddy?

When you register with the CVSC on line you will have the ability to request a buddy of the same age/gender although this request cannot be guaranteed.

How do I get involved with the program? 

Help is always required with either coaching a team, helping set up the grasshopper field, checking in players as they arrive as well as tidying up and packing away at the end of the day.
