Team practices start mid-August depending upon the Castro Valley Unified School District fields. CVSC U7 to U12 recreational players play all their games against other CVSC teams at a Castro Valley location. CVSC U14, U16, and U19 recreational players play their games against other CVSC teams and non-CVSC teams. Half of their games are at a Castro Valley location and the other half are at the opponents fields somewhere in Alameda or Contra Costa counties. CVSC recreational soccer runs from mid-August and finishes the first Saturday of November. U14-19 teams may start and finish later depending on opponents.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

A fun introduction to the game of soccer for both players and parents. For players under the age of 4 years old.

U4 (under 4)

A non-competitive introduction to soccer that will build the foundation for your child’s future soccer enjoyment and development.

U5 - U6

This program is designed to build upon the technical skills learned in the Grasshopper program and introduce a few basic concepts to help players learn and understand the game while maximizing touches on the ball. The main priority is ALWAYS to make each session a FUN learning environment.

U7 - U8

Recreational
(7v7)

U9 - U10

This program builds motivational and competitive challenges, with a growing emphasis placed on learning the core skills. Game days are more focused on the matches themselves, with 7v7 team sizes providing the appropriate building blocks towards the 11v11 format of youth soccer. The focus, however, is still on enjoyment with results taking a secondary priority.

Recreational
(9v9)

U11 - U12

This program continues with an emphasis placed on learning the core skills. Game days are more focused on the matches themselves, with 9v9 team sizes providing the appropriate building blocks towards the 11v11 format of youth soccer. The focus is still on enjoyment with results taking a secondary priority.

Super Rec
(11v11)

U14 - U19

It is helpful at this stage to stabilize all acquired technical basics, and to align these with position-specific requirements and greater tactical demands during games. Improving individual ability to lead teammates on and off the field while also achieving life balance with increasing training demands, social contact, and academic demands to create rewarding experiences. Players should be challenged to increase their independent decision making to improve pro-activity and self responsibility on the field. They will also develop their capacity to resolve difficult situations and react to adversity.
