🗂️ Member Surveys – We Want Your Feedback!

So far only 15% of families have returned a survey for the 2025 season.  We want to to hear from you about your experience this year. Your feedback helps us improve our programming in the ways that will best enhance your experience for the upcoming season.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey that matches your player’s program:

Each survey takes only a few minutes to complete - please send your responses before Nov 21st so we have ample time to review and compile results before our annual member meeting.

⚽ Annual Member Meeting – Monday, December 8 at 6:30 PM at Creekside Middle School

Our Annual Member Meeting is open to all CVSC members (parents, coaches, referees, and players’ families). Join us to:

    • Elect our 2026 Board of Directors

    • Review updates to our CVSC Constitution & Bylaws

    • Share feedback and ideas for the year ahead

    Meeting Date: Monday, December 8
    Time: 6:30 PM
    Location: Creekside Middle School

🗳️ Join the CVSC Board of Directors

We have several board positions up for re-election for 2026 plus some current board members we know are not continuing in 2026. We are seeking new volunteers interested in getting more involved with the club. Because some members may transition to new roles, we’ve listed all board positions below so you can see the different ways to contribute.

Each role serves a two-year term, so not every position is open for election this year — but we always welcome members who want to learn more, shadow a current board member, or get involved in a supporting capacity.  Full details of each board position can be found in our Constitution and Bylaws.

    CVSC Board Positions:
President • Vice President • Secretary & Communications • Treasurer • Operations Director • Competitive Program Director • Feilds Director • 6 Recreational Program Directors (Teaming, Coaches, Scheduling and 3 Age group specific Directors) • TOPSoccer Program Director • Referee Program Director • Events & Volunteer Director

Special Note: Our current Treasurer has shared that this will be his final year on the board after many years of dedicated service. We’re looking for someone with financial or bookkeeping experience who could join the board this year and work alongside him to ensure a smooth transition across 2026.

If you’d like to learn more about how you can help or express interest in a future role, please email askCVSC@castrovalleysoccer.com or submit our2026 Board Interest Form so we can reach out and answer any questions by December 1st

Thank you for being part of the CVSC community and helping us create an amazing experience for all players. We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Member Meeting on December 8!

You can review both documents anytime at www.castrovalleysoccer.com.

It’s been a strong fall season for our competitive teams so far. As league play wraps up and many teams continue State Cup competition, I wish everyone the best as they finish the season. Thank you for your continued commitment to your teams and our club community.

  • Dear CVSC Families,

We are coming into the last few weeks of the rec soccer season, and we’re so proud of the teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship happening across all our fields. Thank you for supporting your players, coaches, and the club community each week.

  • Dear U07/U08 Academy Families,

Earlier this week, we were informed by leadership at Vannoy Elementary that the school will be hosting an event on Saturday, October 4th, and the fields will no longer be available for soccer that day.

We evaluated a few different solutions and, in order to avoid shortening the season and to minimize disruption, we’ve decided to move all U07/U08 Academy games scheduled for Saturday, October 4th to Sunday, October 5th. Please note:

All game times and field assignments will remain the same — only the date is changing. The schedule from the website has been updated.

We apologize for any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

Coaches and Team Managers: Please update your TeamSnap schedules accordingly.

Families: Please update your player’s availability in TeamSnap as soon as possible so coaches are aware of potential conflicts early enough to arrange for guest players if needed.

Thank you again for working with us to make this change as smooth as possible. We look forward to seeing your players on the field!

  • Dear CVSC Families,

The tournament schedule for U9 - U12 teams is now live! Tournament brackets and scoring information was sent to U9-12 families via email on 9/21. You can also find the schedule and details here: [u9-12 tournament document].

    Sideline Behavior
This has been a very positive year for our field atmosphere, we have had multiple refs comment on how lovely fields and games have been this year.  We can continue this trend by having all families follow Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) principles during games:

    • Cheer positively for all players.

    • Respect referees and their decisions.

    • Let the coaches coach and avoid giving instructions from the sidelines.

    • Model sportsmanship and encouragement at all times.

The energy from the sidelines shapes how kids experience the game, let’s keep it positive and supportive.

Field Care – Pack It In, Pack It Out
We are guests on school property. No trash, equipment, or personal items should ever be left behind after games or practices. Fields should be as clean, or cleaner, than when we arrived. This has been an issue at multiple fields this year. Please help us keep our fields clean!

    • Families are encouraged to support our volunteer coaches by helping with field set up if you are the first game or field clean up if you are the last game on a field.

    • Please make sure goals, cones, and all equipment are neatly put away when finished.

  • Dear CVSC U09-U12 Recreational families,

Apologies for the delayed release of the November 1st and 2nd tournament schedules. You can find your scheduled games here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t2C1MV2EJFbbb7TC5gqll3-kP-Kwg44GXGUXPe1okRM/edit?usp=sharing

The tournament is played in brackets, not groups. Therefore, teams will get points on their results:

    • 3 points for a win

    • 1 point for a tie

    • 0 points for a loss

For U09 Girls, U09 Boys, U12 Boys, and U12 Girls, the two teams with the highest points in their bracket will play another championship game on Sunday.

For U10 Boys, the two teams with the highest points will play another championship game on Sunday.

For U10 Girls, all teams will play two games each day. The team with the highest points wins the division.

If there is a tie for points, the winner is determined by:

    1. Head to Head: The results of the matches played directly between those tied teams.

    2. Goal Difference: If the head-to-head record doesn't resolve the tie, goal difference (total goals scored minus total goals conceded in all group matches) is used to rank the teams.

    3. Goals Scored: If goal difference is also tied, the number of goals scored by the tied teams becomes the next factor.

  • Dear CVSC Recreational Families,

We are already about one third of the way through the season. Thank you for the energy and support you have brought to the fields so far! We have also heard your feedback that families would like more communication. Going forward, we will be sending a weekly email update with important reminders and information. If you have questions, or if there is information you think should be shared with all families, please email us at askCVSC@castrovalleysoccer.com.

By now, game schedules should have been added to your TeamSnap. You can also view all game schedules anytime on our website: castrovalleysoccer.com/game-schedules.

    Sideline Behavior
We ask all families to follow Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) principles during games:

    • Cheer positively for all players.

    • Respect referees and their decisions.

    • Let the coaches coach and avoid giving instructions from the sidelines.

    • Model sportsmanship and encouragement at all times.

When parents set the right tone, players gain confidence and enjoy the game more.

Field Care – Pack It In, Pack It Out
We are guests on school property. No trash, equipment, or personal items should ever be left behind after games or practices. Fields should be as clean, or cleaner, than when we arrived.

    • Families are encouraged to support our volunteer coaches by helping with field set up if you are the first game or field clean up if you are the last game on a field.

    • Please make sure goals, cones, and all equipment are neatly put away when finished.

    Parking Reminders

    • Park only in legal spaces within school parking lots.

    • Do not park on Five Canyons Blvd. ACSO has received complaints and will begin ticketing cars parked on the street.

    • At Vannoy, always leave the Custodian marked parking spot open, even on weekends.

    • Drive carefully in and around schools at all times, and follow all posted traffic directions.

    Field & Schedule Notes

    • No practices at PROCTOR on Friday, October 24 (school event).

    • No Rec practices on Friday, October 31 (Halloween).

    Picture Day Reminder
Make up picture day is Saturday, October 4 at Stonebrae Elementary School. Photos must be purchased in advance here: flow.page/castrovsc.

    Share Your Photos!
We love highlighting our players and teams on the CVSC website and social media. If you capture a great moment, send it to askCVSC@castrovalleysoccer.com with your team name and age group.

Thanks again for being such an important part of our soccer community. We could not do this without your support. See you on the fields!

  • Dear CVSC Recreational families,

My sincere apologies for the delayed release of the season's schedules. The schedules were expected today, and this expectation will not be met.

Responsibility for this delay rests fully with me. All of us volunteer board members have worked diligently to start the season. However, I didn’t adequately delegate or train other board members and caused a bottleneck.

Also, fields not being approved in a timely manner or at all, last-minute changes, and GotSport’s inflexible nature have added significant time to the process.

The impact of this delay on families' planning is understood. Any inconvenience is deeply regretted. The board is working to resolve these issues. Schedules will be provided by Sunday August 31st.

There are no games this weekend due to Labor Day.

    Picture Day Information:

    • September 6th is Picture Day.

    • Games are spread out more this day so everyone can get to both their photos and their games.

    • Bumblebees, Grasshoppers, Academy players, and those playing at Proctor, will take their photos at their game sites. All others will be at Canyon Middle School or one of the other sites.

    • Please plan for scarce parking.

    • If you want to purchase photos, you will need to order and print your receipt before arriving at the site.

    • All players are encouraged to participate in the team photo whether or not they are purchasing.

  • Thank you for hanging in with us as we’ve gotten the fall season underway. We truly appreciate each of you for stepping up and dedicating your time and energy to make this a great experience for your players and teams. Below is some important information and updates to help guide the season:

    General Reminders & Resources

    • Coach Shirts (Action Required): If you still need a shirt in L, XL, or XXL, please sign up on the Google Doc here to arrange a pickup.

    • Parking (Action Required): Please remind families that parking at all sites can be challenging. Encourage them to arrive 5–10 minutes early to find legal parking. Do not park in fire lanes, block cars, or park in front of driveways. Ask parents to be respectful to both school and neighborhood communities.

    • Field Cleanliness: Use a “pack it in, pack it out” mentality—pick up all trash and equipment before leaving. Please check the area for jackets, water bottles, and balls to help keep our fields clean.

    • Parent Issues: If parents contact you with concerns (injuries, complaints, etc.), direct them to email rec_membership@castrovalleysoccer.com. That inbox goes directly to staff dedicated to the rec program.

    • Coaching Support: Use your program’s Coaches TeamSnap as a resource, and lean on your fellow coaches—we have many experienced coaches happy to share tips and tricks. The TeamSnap chat can also be used to coordinate scrimmages during practice slots.

    • Coaching Resources: Looking for some suggestions for running sessions, drills for specific skills, or feeling a little lost? https://www.fifatrainingcentre.com/en/ is a FREE website utilized by our professional coaches when they are looking for ideas.  Check it out!

    • TeamSnap: We believe teaming changes that needed to occur have all been completed, if you still need access changes in TeamSnap please email askCVSC@castrovalleysoccer.com.

    Schedules

    • Practice Schedules can be found [via this link]

    • Game Schedules: Game schedule for this weekend Aug 23 can be found here.  We hope to get the rest of the season scheduled soon.

    • Action Required: Please add this information to your TeamSnap as soon as possible.

    • Important: Because coaches have made team name changes in TeamSnap, we cannot bulk upload schedules this season. Each team will need to update their own schedule individually

    Coaching Clinic

    • Our Competitive Director of Coaching, Marcus Watson, will lead a 1 hour and 15 minute session focusing on how to coach attacking

    • Marcus will walk through how to structure a training session using small-sided games and modern coaching principles, showing how we help players recognize when and how to attack with purpose. He’ll be working live with his competitive U10 boys team to demonstrate these ideas in action.

    •  Location: Vannoy Elementary

    •  Time: 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM

    •  Date: Wednesday August 27st

    Grasshoppers

    • Facilities: A porta potty for Independent has been ordered and should be in place this week.

    Academy

    • Parking & Access: Families may use the Vannoy school lot after 4 PM only. They must enter the field through the lower gate on Vannoy Ave, not through school grounds.

    • Field Access (Action Required): Gate lock code: 9682. Last coach must “daisy chain” the lock when leaving. The porta potty must be unlocked when opening and re-secured when closing.

    • Goals: yellow PUGG goals are for practices they are found in the largest storage bin (labeled). Game goals are Bow Nets and are NOT easy to set up for the first time. Coaches for the first games on Saturdays should allow extra time to set up goals. Last team for the day should allow extra time to break down goals and put them back into cases and storage bins.

    • 24-7 Coaching Support (Action required): Coaches can [sign up] for a 24-7 staff member to help run or support a session. This is ideal for new coaches, covering specific concepts, or when a head/assistant coach is unavailable. Note: A coach must still be present—this is a supplement, not a replacement. Available only at Vannoy.

Older Age Groups / Field Updates

    • Stanton: We’re grateful to have this space! Fields are not yet lined, and goals are pending principal approval. Our permits began Aug 18, so we could not set up earlier. Please be patient as setup is completed.

    • Jensen Ranch: Fields will be lined soon (after school hours). Permanent goals are not allowed, but we are working on a solution. A porta potty has been ordered for this site.

    • Bret Harte: Lining is being handled by the school/HARD, but no set timeline yet. We do not currently have permission to use the on-site goals, and a solution is being worked on.

    • 9v9 practices at Vannoy: Field has not been lined yet. There is not a plan to put goals permanently in this space but there are large BowNet goals stored in the back of the field space near storage containers. Goals are already assembled and just need to be moved to the field and back to the storage spot after practices. Goals cannot be left on the field.

    • Want 24/7 Support? (Action Required): We offer our U7-8 coaches the option to sign-up for 24/7 support for specific practices.  We are looking at adding this resource for our U9-12 coaches as well.  Before we generate sign-ups and assign a coach we would like to gauge interest.  Please fill out [this sheet] on the NON-VANNOY tab and tell where when and where you practice so we can determine if this is plausible for our older teams.

Again, thank you for everything you’re doing to make this season a success. We couldn’t do it without you! We will send another communication out Monday by EOD with any additional information we learn this weekend, updates to schedules, and field updates.  Continue checking your coaches TeamSnaps, Beau and Joel often provide you information before we have formalized our communication.
